An Implementation of Adaptive Side Lobe Cancellation in MATLAB (registered trademark)

Abstract

The objective of an adaptive side lobe cancellation system is to suppress high duty cycle and noise-like interference signals received through the side lobes of the radar. This is accomplished by using auxiliary antennas whose antenna pattern approximates to the side lobe pattern of the maine antenna. By suitably phasing the signals received by the auxiliaries a directional anti-phase signal can be generated that when added to the maine antenna signal "subtracts" the interference. This report describes an implementation in MATLAB(registered trademark) of an adaptive side lobe canceller system, including a copy of the source code.
