Patterns of Human Resource Development in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

Demographic change in Saudi Arabia may be one of the main determinants not only of political stability, but economic as well. In particular, the ability of the country to develop its human assets will, in the long run, determine the kingdom's ultimate success in diversifying its economy away from oil. The purpose of this paper is to survey recent demographic trends in the Kingdom, especially as they affect the development of the nation's human resources. Based on this assessment several future scenarios are outlined.
