Joint Mission-Essential Tasks, Joint Vision 2010, Core Competencies, and Global Engagement. Short versus Long View

Abstract

This article reviews the concept of JMETLs and joint vision and assesses their impact on the long-range training, procurement, and readiness of the US armed services. Further, it assesses the need for improvements to the current process of identifying needs for training and procurement prioritization that balances the immediate requirements of warfighting CINCs with longer-term interests of the uniformed armed services.
