A Systems Description of the Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility (ASTF)

Abstract

A detailed description of the major process and support systems comprising the Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility (ASTF) is presented. Also presented, are operational examples which illustrate the basic functions and interrelations of the major process systems as they work together to provide the concurrent values of mass flow, temperature, and pressure required for true flight simulation tests of airbreathing engine propulsion systems in a ground test facility. The material presented includes a discussion of the facility operational and performance requirements for each of the major process and support systems, including both physical and performance specifications for each system.
