Use of the GigE Vision Imagery Transport Standard in AFVs

Abstract

This paper provides guidance on the use of the GigE Vision (R) (GEV) imagery transport standard within an armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) platform. This standard was originally developed by the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) for use in industrial machine vision environments, but is generally applicable to other environments. The standard provides a variety of technical options. In the context of using the standard in an AFV some of these options are required, some are desirable and some options are undesirable. This paper outlines how the standard should be adapted for use in a vehicle environment.
