Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center

Abstract

The mission of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is to safeguard the United States and its allies from weapons of mass destruction (WMD) (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives, or CBRNE) by providing capabilities to reduce, eliminate and counter the threat and mitigate its effects. The DoD created DTRA as a combat support agency to focus department capabilities in the fight against WMD. DTRA supports the three pillars of the National Strategy on Combating WMD: nonproliferation, counterproliferation and consequence management. DTRIAC is sponsored by DTRA (or its various predecessors). DDR&E established the DASA Data Center (DASIAC) in 1964 which was renamed DTRIAC in 2000.
