SWCNT Supercapacitor Electrode Fabrication Methods

Abstract

This work systematically compares various solution-based electrode fabrication methods (drop casting, air brushing, filtration, and electrospraying) to determine if there is an optimum method for fabricating supercapacitor electrodes out of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT). We have found that it is best to use SWCNT solutions free from additives that may be difficult to remove from the fabricated electrode. In addition, the SWCNT solution processing (e.g., dilution and sonication) has a small effect on the resulting specific capacitance, as did the deposition methods compared here.
