Maritime Domain Awareness Operational Game 2010

Abstract

The Maritime Domain Awareness Operational Game was held in July 2010 at the U.S. Naval War College and was developed and executed at the Direction of the U.S. Chief of Naval Operations. This game explored information sharing with international maritime stakeholders. The 37 international participants from 12 nations identified the various impediments to effective internal and external information sharing and the benefits of sharing. This led to the development of an acceptable sharing structure which would maximize the volume and detail of shared maritime information for any participating nation. The key finding of the game that most encourages future information sharing was the player developed concept for the adoption of a shared statement of principles which would serve as the foundation for the myriad of sharing activities.
