Technical Report for the Price and Purity of Illicit Drugs: 1981 - 2007

Abstract

This Technical Report provides material that both complements and supplements the companion Results Report, IDA Paper P-4369. Topics addressed include IDA modifications to the data processing and statistical implementation steps undertaken in the 2004 ONDCP report (i.e., EPH methodology); expanded discussions and analyses of the challenges associated with STRIDE-centric studies; quantity discount curves; a median-based methodology for conveniently portraying STRIDE data and facilitating direct simple comparisons to the EPH model results - to provide a context for assessing the EPH formulation and to motivate potential future enhancements; and correlation analyses comparing STRIDE estimates to general workforce drug testing results and to price compilations reported by the National Drug Intelligence Center.
