Mechanical Response of Titanium Aluminide (TiAl3)

Abstract

Compression tests have been performed on TiAl3 at strain rates from 0.00003-500/s. All tests were done at room temperature and were designed to investigate the stress-strain response of the material. In addition to these tests elastic constants were calculated from ultrasound measurements. The results were used to find an approximate failure stress for the material.
