Medical Surveillance Monthly Report (MSMR). Volume 17, Number 11, November 2010

Abstract

The Medical Surveillance Monthly Report (MSMR), in continuous publication since 1995, is produced by the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center (AFHSC). The MSMR provides evidence-based estimates of the incidence, distribution, impact and trends of illness and injuries among United States military members and associated populations. Most reports in the MSMR are based on summaries of medical administrative data that are routinely provided to the AFHSC and integrated into the Defense Medical Surveillance System for health surveillance purposes. This issue is the Medical Surveillance monthly report and includes the following articles: Supplemental report: Selected mental health disorders among active component members, U.S. Armed Forces, 2007-2010; Mental disorders and mental health problems, active component, U.S. Armed Forces, January 2000-December 2009; Hospitalizations for mental disorders, active component, U.S. Armed Forces, January 2000-December 2009; and Childbirth, deployment, and diagnoses of mental disorders among active component women, January 2002-June 2009. Summary tables and figures Update: Deployment health assessments, U.S. Armed Forces, November 2010; Sentinel reportable medical events, service members and beneficiaries, U.S. Armed Forces, cumulative numbers through October of 2009 and 2010 and Deployment-related conditions of special surveillance interest.
