Abstract

Its functions were: To study and survey the major (basic) strategy of the war (past, present, and future); to keep the Joint Chiefs of Staff advised on combined basic strategy in the light of the developing and predictable situation; to advise the Joint Chiefs of Staff on long-range strategy (combined); to study the strategic possibilities to be adopted when current plans have become impractical, and to advise the Joint Chiefs of Staff in regard thereto.
