Operational Equations of State. 1. A Novel Equation of State for Hydrocode

Abstract

A novel model equation of state (EOS) for hydrocode is suggested. This model is called the delta chi-EOS because it depends on two functions of one variable each. The delta chi-EOS generalizes the classical incomplete EOS like the ideal gas thermal EOS, the van der Waals EOS, and the virial EOS, among others. We demonstrate the incomplete and complete variants of the delta chi-EOS. We also discuss how to recover the functions delta and chi from experimental measurements.
