RNA Regulation by Estrogen

Abstract

A protocol has been designed and optimized for obtaining RNAs that bind to Estrogen and other small molecules. Micro-array and high throughput sequencing technologies have been used to characterize the bound RNAs. Although the micro-array experiment lead to a large list of potential RNAs, the high throughput sequencing experiment did not validate any RNAs on the list. This result was likely due to significant contamination in the high throughput sequencing assay. We have generated a powerful new method to purify RNAs bound to small molecules but at this stage of the research, the identification and characterization remain challenges for future work.
