Abstract

This document is a users' manual for visitors to the Institute for Defense Analyses' (IDA) Defense Resource Management Reading Guide website. The primary purpose of the website is to provide up-to-date and authoritative reference sources addressing international defense resource management practices. The manual consists of three chapters and five appendices. Chapter 1 provides background on the website. Chapter 2 provides helpful hints and a discussion of special website features. Chapter 3 elaborates on pertinent details of the website. The appendices present background on the Defense Resource Management Studies (DRMS) program, a briefing on the Defense Resource Management Reading Guide publication and companion website, a glossary and list of abbreviations, and a website site map. Major capabilities and features of the site discussed in this manual include, among others: authoritative annotated citations, rapid access to publications identified on the site, rapid identification of libraries worldwide containing those publications, new generation search tools allowing users to search full contents of all documents on the site, intuitive organization of information, recommended reading sequence, and wiki-like process for website refinement.
