Abstract

The 2012 Government Accountability Office (GAO) assessment made observations on the following aspects of the Department of Defense's (DoD) 2011 Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAPs): (1) Cost performance and characteristics of DoD's portfolio of Major Defense Acquisition Programs; (2) Timing and amount of technology, design, and manufacturing knowledge achieved; and (3) Progress in implementing acquisition reforms and department initiatives.
