Utilizing SharePoint and Overcoming Technology Obstacles to Implement and Communicate EMS throughout the Fort Leavenworth Installation
Abstract
Environmental Stewardship is one of the keys to Army Sustainability on Fort Leavenworth. The concept includes everyone, from fence to fence, and every action and material, from cradle to grave. The DOL/DPW Environmental Division is committed to assisting all of Fort Leavenworth in achieving sound environmental stewardship practices. The environmental programs we manage (lead-based paint, household hazardous waste, hazardous waste, etc.) are under the Environmental Programs tab above. The Environmental Management System is the federal government's system for complying with Executive Order 13148. In 2001, the Department of the Army adopted the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. It is a systematic approach to integrating and sharing the environmental actions and information on Fort Leavenworth. This intranet management tool provides access to EMS policies, procedures, and related environmental documentation that apply to the operations of Fort Leavenworth. The goals of this management tool are to provide quick and complete access to Environmental Division information, reports, and contacts; assist in supporting and communicating EMS initiatives and the Environmental Policy Statement throughout Fort Leavenworth; promote sustainability principles throughout the EMS; and demonstrate the implementation of an installation-wide EMS systems.
