Snap-through and Continuation

Abstract

This project has resulted in a solid improvement to the state of the art in nonlinear structural dynamics. The new insight gained, and the types of structural components analyzed, are directly applicable to the structural mechanics objectives of the US Air Force. In order to fully provide a test-bed for future hypersonics vehicular analysis (in particular) it is crucial to understand the nonlinear dynamical behavior of slender structural elements in extreme environments. The technical papers that form the appendices of this final report detail the achievements that have been made on both the experimental and computational fronts of this project.
