Dynamics of Coastally Trapped Disturbances Deduced from MM5 Simulations

Abstract

We wish to advance the understanding of the interaction of a large-scale flow with complex terrain in the presence of a strongly stratified marine atmospheric boundary layer. We wish to carry out a detailed diagnosis of coastally trapped disturbances (CTD's) along the California coast, to document and understand dynamical mechanisms responsible for generating and maintaining such disturbances.
