Coastal and Continental Shelf Processes in Ghana

Abstract

That the University of Ghana would become the Centre of Excellence in coastal processes research and training in the region. The Centre will provide leadership and sustain a network of coastal scientists who will guide formulation and implementation of science-based policies in their respective countries. The project is focused on building capacity in the University of Ghana to: 1. investigate processes governing coastline evolution in Ghana; 2. develop algorithms for the detection of fishing vessels and oil slicks; and 3. investigate meso-scale oceanographic phenomena in the Gulf of Guinea
