Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment: Workshop Report, Torres Strait, Australia, Annex A

Abstract

Risk identification and mitigation are and have been ongoing activities within the Torres Strait area. As a step toward standardizing methodology, a formal Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment (PAWSA) for Torres Strait was conducted in Cairns, Australia, on 22 - 23 March 2004. The results of that workshop are provided in this report and include the following information: (1) Brief description of the process used for the assessment; (2) Numerical results from the following activities: (a) Expertise Evaluation; (b) Risk Factor Rating Scales; (c) Absolute Risk Levels; (d) Present Risk Levels; (e) Intervention Effectiveness. (3) Summary of risks and mitigations discussion.
