Port and Waterway Safety Assessment: Louisville, Kentucky Workshop Report

Abstract

A Port and Waterway Safety Assessment (PAWSA) Workshop was conducted for Louisville, Kentucky, on February 12 - 13, 2002. This workshop report provides the following information: (1) Brief description of the process used for the assessment; (2) List of participants; (3) Numerical results from the following activities: (a) Team Expertise; (b) Waterway Risks Evaluation; (c) Existing Waterway Mitigations Evaluation; (d) VTM Tools Evaluation; and (4) Summary of risks and mitigations discussion. Strategies for reducing unmitigated risks will be the subject of a separate report. Scope of the port area under consideration: The participants defined the geographic bounds of the port area to be discussed. From 18 Mile Island (mile 584) to mile 630. Including: Harrods Creekand VTS Louisville area of responsibility.
