SpaceWire Satellite Usage

Abstract

SpaceWire represents the most recent interface standard insertion in spacecraft computing interfaces since the widespread spacecraft adoption of CompactPCI in command and data handling systems. This paper reviews how SpaceWire's fabric based topologies are applied as a telemetry and control interface in spacecraft with discussions of hardware implementations, performance and power. SpaceWire usage in various standards including the upcoming Next Generation Space Interface Standard (NGSIS) is discussed.
