AGOR 28: SIO Shipyard Representative Bi-Weekly Progress Report

Abstract

AGORs 27 and 28 are new "Ocean Class" research vessels being built at the Dakota Creek Industries Inc. (DCI) of Anacortes, WA shipyard under the supervision of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), the contracted operator, with delivery of AGOR 27 schedule for late 2014 and AGOR 28 in 2015. AGOR 27, first of the class, will be named after Neil Armstrong. AGOR 28, second of the class, will become the R/V Sally Ride. During this period, four Neil Armstrong (AGOR 27) skid mounted Generator Sets have been placed in the Engine Space. #4 Genset has been placed on its mounts. The yard is in the process of placing the remaining three gensets on their mounts.
