AGOR 28: SIO Shipyard Representative Bi-Weekly Progress Report

Abstract

AGORs 27 and 28 are new "Ocean Class" research vessels being built at the Dakota Creek Industries Inc. (DCI) of Anacortes, WA shipyard under the supervision of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), the contracted operator, with delivery of AGOR 27 schedule for late 2014 and AGOR 28 in 2015. AGOR-27, first of the class, will be named after Neil Armstrong. AGOR-28, second of the class, will become the R/V Sally Ride.A review of the Sally Ride paint schedule revealed several errors with topside color selection. The Scripps Blue was correct for the hull and bulwarks, but the house, hand rails and mast colors were in error. DCI was provide with the correct colors. Sally Ride Foc's'le Deck landed above Mess Deck area. DCI has fabricated Sally Ride Pilot House console and furniture mock-ups. Eight prefabbed Toilet and Shower units were landed and located onto the Foc's'le Deck.
