AGOR 28: SIO Shipyard Representative Bi-Weekly Progress Report

Abstract

AGORs 27 and 28 are new "Ocean Class" research vessels being built at the Dakota Creek Industries Inc. (DCI) of Anacortes, WA shipyard under the supervision of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO), with delivery of AGOR 27 schedule for late 2014 and AGOR 28 in 2015. AGOR-27, first of the class, will be named after Neil Armstrong. AGOR-28, second of the class, will become the R/V Sally Ride. Completed review of Electrical One-line and EPLA. During the review it was noted that the yard did not meet the specifications for the Ship Refrigeration system. DCI agreed that the system did not meet the specifications and that they were in the process of correcting it. The operators and government had the opportunity to view the pilot house arrangement and console mock-ups. The operators made several recommendations and are in the processes coming to a consensus on a response to the yard. Neil Armstrong Engine Room Stanchion was moved2-inches inboard, eliminating the interference issues with the #3 Generator Set.
