9th Annual Safar Symposium

Abstract

The 9th Safar Symposium was held on June 23-24, 2011 at the Biomedical Science Tower of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The Conference was attended by ~150 people including faculty, fellows, residents, and other trainees and nurses and other allied personnel from the University and the Greater Pittsburgh Area. There was no registration fee. The Conference was a two day event that focused on the topic of traumatic brain injury--with a special emphasis on the topic of traumatic brain injury as it relates to resuscitation in U. S. combat casualty care. Approximately 70 trainee presentations in posters and platform format were made by fellows, residents, medical students, nurses, and undergraduates that were judged for scientific merit. Plenary presentations were made by faculty from Uniform Services University and multiple VA medical centers, along with other civilian medical centers.
