Method of Estimating the Principal Characteristics of an Infantry Fighting Vehicle from Basic Performance Requirements

Abstract

Once basic performance requirements for an infantry fighting vehicle are chosen, we have shown most of the degrees of freedom in the vehicle design are eliminated and one can predict most of the important characteristics of the vehicle. This paper describes in detail the process by which this can be done and presents collected data where necessary that can be used to establish rules of thumb for the critical design relationships.
