Multinational Experiment 7. Regional Analysis: Wider Mediterranean

Abstract

The Mediterranean region, inclusive of its western and eastern approaches, ideally represents a summary of what are the threats (among all terrorism, pollution, smuggling, illegal immigration, national crisis, etc.) and the challenges (complex environment where different religions, cultures, economies and societies live together) in creating a Maritime Security Regime (MSR). Moreover, as a crucial crossroads for the maritime trade and the global economic flows, the Mediterranean Sea is something like a lab where maritime security initiatives could be assessed and fruitfully enhanced.
