Algeria's Counter-Terrorism Strategy to Protect the State from New Threats

Abstract

This project describes Algeria s experience in combating terrorism over the past quarter century and then considers the relevance of this experience in the face of new and emerging threats to Algeria, to include the crisis in Libya s, the Touareg insurgency in neighboring Mali, and the presence and evolution of terrorist groups inside Algeria and the region. The analyses are followed by recommendations for a strategy with which to address new threats while protecting Algerian sovereignty and regional stability.
