Bulgaria in European Security and Defense Policy

Abstract

Part I of this paper describes the current and future security environment in Europe and its implications for both the European Union and Bulgaria. This section then provides additional details on the environment Bulgaria faces and will face in the near future. Part II briefly summarizes the European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP), and makes recommendations for the Bulgarian contribution to ESDP. Part III describes current trends in the armed forces of the European Union and European NATO countries. In conclusion, the paper makes recommendations for Bulgarian force structure changes.
