U.S. Deterrence and Influence in the New Era (Including the Contributions of U.S. Naval Forces)

Abstract

This report is the product of a Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) selfinitiated project to explore the evolution of the notions of military deterrence and influence in the new era emerging after the Cold War. It was undertaken upon the initiative of Robin Pirie, then Vice President for Strategy and Forces at CNA, and presently the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Installations and Environment.
