Measurement of Elastic Modulus of Alumina and Barium Strontium Titanate Wafers Produced by Tape Casting Method

Abstract

Elastic modulus measurements were made using a three-point configuration testing method. Samples of barium strontium titanate (BST) were made using a regular powder pressing, sintering, pelletizing, and sawing method (pelletizing method), as well as a tape casting technique. Samples of aluminum oxide (alumina) were made by a tape casting method. For BST, a value of elastic modulus between 99 to 114 GPa was obtained for the pelletizing method and 161 GPa for the tape casting BST material. For the alumina, an average value of elastic modulus of 249 GPa was measured.
