Guided-Wave Testing of Trunnion Rods at Greenup Lock and Dam, Kentucky

Abstract

This Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) describes the initial results of a field test at Greenup Lock and Dam, Kentucky (Figure 1), to evaluate the existing laboratory equipment and the methodology of acoustical guided waves to determine the field condition of trunnion rods used in US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) dams throughout the country. This effort is funded by the Navigation Research Program at the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC).
