The Marine Corps Assault Support Community: The Requirement to Develop and Maintain the Capability to Operate in the Mountainous Clime and Place

Abstract

There is a strategic, operational, and tactical necessity for the Marine Corps to possess the required capabilities to operate the mountainous operational environment. As a major subordinate element of the MAGTF, the ACE, specifically the helicopter and tilt rotor assets of the assault support community, must develop and maintain resident competencies to conduct helicopter-borne operations in the mountainous operational environment.
