Energy Security is National Security

Abstract

US Energy Policy is directly linked to National Security and must adapt to a new energy paradigm quickly in' order to avoid catastrophic consequences. Maintaining the status quo will, at best, lead to gradual decline and leave the US subject to any global disruptions. Additionally, due to the energy policy of the US, the country indirectly funds terrorism. The US needs to take stronger actions to regain sound fiscal policy, increase energy efficiency, transition to sustainable and cleaner fuels and lower energy intensity in order to drastically reduce dependency on foreign sources of oil.
