Fiber-Optic Propagation Effects in Long-Haul HF/VHF/UHF Analog Photonic Links

Abstract

A full theoretical analysis of crosstalk in fiber optic wavelength division multiplexed systems is presented for the HF/VHF/UHF (1 MHz to 3 GHz) frequency bands. Crosstalk due to both stimulated Raman scattering and cross-phase modulation is examined. Data is presented that shows the limitations these mechanisms can have on system dynamic range at these frequencies
