Experimental Testing of a Generic Submarine Model in the DSTO Low Speed Wind Tunnel. Phase 2

Abstract

DSTO has completed the second phase of an experimental test program on a sub-scale model of a generic submarine in its low-speed wind tunnel. These tests were used to gather gross steady-state aerodynamic force and moment data for the model in various configurations, where different appendages including a hull-casing, a fin, and control surfaces were incrementally added to the barehull form. The effectiveness of the control surfaces to induce pitch and yaw motions was also investigated.
