Topics in Mitigating Radar Bias

Abstract

This report considers two topics in mitigating radar bias in target tracking. The first topic considers track estimates provided by two tracking systems of a single object. There is a relative bias, computed by the method of Levedahl or Brown, Weisman and Brock. Absolute bias for each system is computed by setting up and solving the estimation problem by a minimization approach. The second topic is the use of a reduced state filter designed to provide a least mean square state estimate while mitigating measurement bias. These two topics can be used together to address specific tracking problems of interest to the Navy.
