Lithium Battery Fire Tests and Mitigation

Abstract

More than 100 lithium battery casualty tests were conducted to characterize the conditions produced during a range of both unmitigated and mitigated casualties. Both primary and secondary batteries were tested. This report summarizes the data and findings from these tests, including methods of mitigating thermal runaway of these cells under casualty conditions.
