Noninvasive MR-Guided HIFU Therapy of TSC-Associated Renal Angiomyolipomas

Abstract

This report is a summary of our three year's work on the proposed research. During this period, our effort was focused on technological development for thermal ablation in animals. We have established an MR-guided HIFU experimental system that enables simultaneous HIFU ablation and MR guidance in a physiological environment. However, it was found in our in vivo experiments that the established system is more suitable for large-animal models. As a result, mouse tumor ablation cannot be implemented in our studies. Based on this investigation, we are reformatting our research and planning for another effort to investigate MR-guided HIFU therapy of TSC-related renal angiomyolipomas in large animal models.
