Tropical Cyclone Motion Studies

Abstract

The long-term goal is to improve the prediction of tropical cyclone track and structure so that warnings to the Fleet units afloat and ashore are optimized. The objectives are: (1) Improve tropical cyclone track prediction within the framework of the Systematic Approach to Tropical Cyclone Track Forecasting (2) Improve understanding of tropical cyclone structure including rapid intensification and extratropical transition.
