Final Environmental Assessment Addressing Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of a Security Forces Complex at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico

Abstract

Under the Proposed Action, the 377 ABW proposes to construct, operate, and maintain an SFC at Kirtland AFB to provide adequate space and modern facilities to house all 377 SFS administrative and support functions in a consolidated location. The 377 SFS functions that would be transferred to the proposed SFC include base operations center with command and control facility, administration and office space, training rooms, auditorium or assembly room, guard mount, hardened armory for weapons and ammunition storage, confinement facilities, law enforcement, logistics warehouse, general storage vehicle garage with maintenance area, and associated communications functions. One existing janitorial storage building within the proposed footprint of the SFC would be demolished. The analysis in this EA considers the Proposed Action and the No Action Alternative. Two alternatives to the Proposed Action were considered, but eliminated from detailed analysis due to infeasibility.
