Environmental Assessment and Final Finding of No Significant Impact for Lantirn Village & Camera I Site Upgrades Fort Wainwright Yukon Training Area Fort Wainwright, Alaska

Abstract

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) is proposing to upgrade the Weapons Scoring System (WISS) at the Lantirn Village and Camera I sites within the Stuart Creek lmpact Area located in the U.S. Anny Garrison - Alaska's (USAG-FWA) YTA. These military training lands lie northeast of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The proposed upgrade would give the Air Force live bomb drop scoring capability with multiple-angle coverage of the Stuart Creek Impact Area providing enhanced proficiency training to fighter pilots. The proposed action would require the installation of two 40' towers and associated camera scoring equipment at existing facilities located in uplands. Approximately 0.63 acres of vegetation and 10 cubic yards of soils would be disturbed with the construction of the tower bases and clearing of vegetation for wildfire protection.
