Modeling Large-Scale Networks Using Virtual Machines and Physical Appliances

Abstract

As technology was maturing, remote teaching was coming of age: students were asking the schools to come to them over the Internet. Citrix, the RDP, and related products allowed labs to be controlled remotely, and VMware had released its first x86 server virtualization product. The meaning of "hands-on training" was changing to include virtual hands-on experiences.
