AGOR 28: SIO Shipyard Representative Bi-Weekly Progress Report

Abstract

Progress on the building of AGOR 28, oceanographic research vessel Sally Ride. Work continues on initial outfitting lists for Sally Ride and NS5 Hierarchy. Dockside testing of Armstrong's CAST6 winches and their associated handling devices revealed that when either Handling Device is deployed, the cable goes hard up against the retaining pin at the top of the outboard turning block. Markey is working on a fix that may include an additional block above and slightly outboard of the block picture bellow. This would eliminate the pin shown and keep the wire aligned through the entire motion of the handling device. The yard is planning to reeve the cables crisscross between each winch and handling system to demonstrate that all configurations are available for use. Ship Service Diesel Generator Emergency Shutdowns: Siemens located the correct shutdown signal from Cummins and corrected the issue.Government will need to witness the testing of each Local and Pilot House e-shutdown for each engine. The Generator Power Adaptation will also need to be retested.
