Persistence of Serogroup C Antibody Responses Following Quadrivalent Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccination in United States Military Personnel
Abstract
Pre-vaccination rabbit serum bactericidal assay (rSBA) geometric mean titer (GMT) was less than 1:8 for the MenACWYD group. rSBA GMT increased to 703 at 5-7 months post-vaccination and decreased by 90% at 3 years post-vaccination. GMTs were significantly lower in the MenACWY(D) group at 11-13 and 17-19 months post-vaccination compared with the MPSV4 group. The percentage of MenACWY(D) recipients achieving a rSBA titer of greater than or equal to 1:8 decreased from 87% at 5-7 months to 54% at 3 years. There were no significant differences in the proportion of subjects with a titer of greater than or equal to1:8 at any time point between vaccine groups. Geometric mean concentrations (GMCs) decreased from 1.1 microng/mL at 5-7 months to 0.6 microng/mL at 3 years in the MenACWY(D) group and were significantly lower than GMCs in the MPSV4 group at all time points.
