Test Record of Flight Tests Using Alcohol-to-Jet/JP-8 Blended Fuel

Abstract

This report documents the results of flying the U.S. Army's UH-60 and CH-47 helicopters on an alternative fuel blend. Test activities were performed by the Army to determine the results of flying the UH-60 and CH-47 aircraft on a 50:50 blend of Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) with JP-8. The flight tests and post test hardware inspections determined that there was no discernable difference between the use of petroleum based JP-8 and the ATJ/JP-8 blend. The reported flight tests culminate the activities required to validate that an alternative fuel may be certified for use in these air vehicles.
