Optimal Facility Location Tool for Logistics Battle Command (LBC)

Abstract

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide documentation of research for TRADOC Analysis Center, Fort Lee (TRAC-LEE) by the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in collaboration with TRADOC Analysis Center, Monterey (TRAC-MTRY). The focus of this research is to develop a model that optimizes the selection of Air and Sea Ports of Debarkation and intermediate logistical distribution centers while accounting for risks encountered in the theater of operations, distance that supplies and equipment must travel, and the resources available to conduct transportation in a theater of operations. The model developed by AFIT uses a network approach to solve a multi-objective model. The model was developed as a master's thesis by MAJ Robert Craig. The thesis is included as an attachment which shows the body of the work conducted.
