Abstract
Final Environmental Assessment United States Air Force Proposed Lease Replacement for Scandia Elementary School, Travis Air Force Base, California. The United States Air Force (USAF) is required to consider the environmental consequences of any proposed action in the decision-making process under the following regulations: National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (42 United States Code [USC] 4321 to 4370d), Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) implementing regulations (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] Parts 1500 1508), and Department of the Air Force Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) (32 CFR Part 989), which codifies Air Force Instruction (AFI) 32-7061, The Environmental Impact Analysis Process (24 January 1995). This Environmental Assessment (EA) examines the potential environmental impacts resulting from the USAF s proposed replacement of a real property lease to the Travis Unified School District (TUSD) on Travis Air Force Base (AFB). The property is currently leased to the TUSD for the operation of Scandia Elementary School. Implementation of the Proposed Action would allow the TUSD to pursue grant funding for improvements to the school. Travis AFB is located in northern California approximately 50 miles northeast of San Francisco and 40 miles southwest of Sacramento, the state capital.
